Every year California Coastal Commision conducts the Climate Video Challenge Contest for California middle and high school students which asks individuals or small teams to create short videos answering a question about the climate crisis and related efforts. The entry period is from October until May of the following year.
Grade 6 students from Sinnott can participate in this free contest either individually or as a group (with up to 5 members).
The 2024 Climate Video Challenge question is "How is your community responding to the climate crisis?"
Guidelines:
The video must be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo before submitting the contest entry form.
If your video entry is selected as a finalist, you will be requested to submit the video file directly to the California Coastal Commission.
Winning entries from previous years can be viewed at California Coastal Commission Youtube.

Guidelines:
- The video entry must be no longer than 3 minutes.
- Must be filmed in a horizontal (landscape) orientation.
- Avoid focussing on brand names in your video.
- If you include music in your video, only use music that is your own composition or that is copyright free. All credits must be included at the end of the video.
- If you include images in your video (like photographs or charts) that you didn't create yourself, you must clearly and properly credit the sources either on the image or at the end of your video. For example, if you use a photo from NASA, make sure you credit NASA as the source. Only use images that are public domain or available for use with credit.
- If it is possible to recognize someone's face in your video, you must upload a Right To Use Video Likeness Form for each recognizable person.
- If your video includes language other than English, please provide English subtitles OR English translations in the description box on YouTube.
