A Spelling Bee is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty. To compete, contestants must memorize the spellings of words as written in dictionaries, and recite them accordingly.

The registration fee is $10 and can be paid using one of the following:

- Senior Spelling Bee winner will advance to the Bay Area Spelling Bee

Thanks to all the kids who participated in the 2023 Sinnott Spelling Bee Competition! Also, a huge thanks to all the parents for encouraging and motivating the kids to participate! Around 100 kids participated in this year's school Bee. 61 kids from Grades K-2 participated in Jr Spelling Bee and 33 kids from Grades 3-6 participated in Sr SpellingBee. All the kids did extremely well. Here are our winners from each category who battled over multiple grueling rounds of 50 questions each to be winners.

More details for online testing 2023:
We will be creating 2 online tests (one for Grades K-2 and another one for Grades 3-6). The online tests will be available to take on Jan 20 and 27, 2023 only . It will be a timed test with 25 spelling words for which the pronunciation, word root, and a sentence would be provided. The questions will be Multiple Choice and students have to pick a correct spelling from amongst 4 choices given. The words may be from outside the list provided. There will also be 10 vocabulary words that would be provided and students have to pick the correct meaning/context for the word in a sentence.
Highest scorers in K-2 will be announced as winners. For Grades 3-6, if there is a tie amongst the winners, more tests will be given till a winner is decided. The winner from Grades 3-6 will progress to the next round. Certificates will be provided for all participants.
