Golden Oak Service Award (GOSA) - Pamela Campbell, Room 3 Teacher
"Mrs. Campbell is my daughter's Kindergarten teacher. It's the first year my daughter joined school and Mrs. Campbell truly made my daughter's school experience amazing! The extra curricular activities Mrs. Campbell organized for the kids, especially the Marketplace that she organized at the end of the school year proves her commitment to the children yet again. I loved to volunteer with the kids and have seen Mrs. Campbell go above and beyond for the kids. She gave an opportunity to the kids to build their social skills, learn, help each other and inculcate team spirit in every activity that they undertook. I am grateful that my daughter was part of Mrs. Campbell's class and I really wish Mrs. Campbell success in all the years to come as the solid foundation she lays at an early stage in the children's journey takes them places."
"Ms. Campbell is one of the strongest supporters for PTA programs and events. For example during Fall Festival 2022, she spends nights and nights to set up (and clean up) the MUR stage as an amazing hunted house and bouncing house etc. She doesn't have to do that and no one pays her to do it. This is not her normal work for room 3. She did it for the whole school kids and families. Many nights she stays after midnight and brought her family members to help. Don't forget that she also has young kids to take care. I am impressed how much works she took to support PTA. Truly thankful for her."
"Mrs. Campbell has dedicated herself to Sinnott for the past 20 years. She not only provides a compassionate, calm and creative classroom for incoming kindergartners, but she goes above and beyond. Some examples are her partnership with the PTA, and adding extreme value to events like the Fall Festival with her haunted house that takes weeks to set up. Also, she works on multiple plays with her class throughout the year, offering both her students and their families so much joy. Further, she takes on extra work by helping students after-hours via video, and still more, she lets students hang out in her classroom after school while waiting for their parents' shifts to end so they can get picked up. We have been lucky enough to experience Mrs. Campbell's commitment to our students with two of our children, and can only hope our third also gets to experience her classroom. We believe she demonstrates what many of these awards stand for and could easily be presented with multiple. Thank you to Mrs. Campbell!"
"She is very nice and kind with everyone. She works hard every single day to make something fun and useful for building our kid' s knowledge."
"Mrs Campbell oversaw the Halloween festival this school year which generated a lot of activity and donations from parents and students. She is also an exemplary teacher showing great care and instructions to young students starting in Elementary."
"Makes kids love coming to school."
"Over the years I have seen her going above and beyond her regular duties to chip in every way she can, be it a PTA meetings, fall festival, book fair, bingo she has been always there with the school events putting an extra effort to do the best for the kids. Being the most senior teacher she is the most approachable . She has supported the school community in each possible way . I would love to nominate her for this special recognition for her extraordinary contribution to Sinnott community."
"Mrs. Pamela Campbell is a dedicated, patient, and nurturing teacher. Kindergarten can be a tenuous year for young five-year-olds entering elementary school for the first time. As a parent of one of those children, I have experienced firsthand how she patiently guides each of her students into their kindergarten year and helps them negotiate a new teacher and peers, a new classroom, and a new school. By building consistent routines, offering engaging individual and group activities targeting multiple learning modalities (play dough, listening center, write-the-room, dramatic play kitchen, building puzzles, and more), Mrs. Campbell has successfully helped the most timid to the most active child in her class become a confident student in the classroom.
As is typical with some children, my son struggled in his transition from preschool to kindergarten. He lacked the academic and social readiness to confidently negotiate the curriculum. With constant patience and praise, Mrs. Campbell helped him work on the skills he needed, in order to meet the learning demands of kindergarten. I appreciated how she would check in with me and my husband everyday after school at pick up to share tidbits from my son's day, both successes and challenges, and offer concrete suggestions for how to follow up with him on certain skills at home. My son has a speech delay and Mrs. Campbell consciously sat him next to students who would encourage him to speak more and advocate for himself in the classroom. Within six months, my son not only advanced in his reading level and reading comprehension, but he also learned to produce writing pieces with accurate grammar, phonetic spelling, word spacing, and legible penmanship. He also grew as an illustrator who could barely create a stick drawing to a confident artist who now creates colorful, detailed drawings on all his own! Based on the steep learning curve my son faced in September, my husband and I were shocked at how quickly he was able to catch up in school! This progress was made without extra tutoring. Thanks to Mrs. Campbell's patience and daily guidance, my son is now thriving in all academic areas and loving school! Moreover, she fostered a safe environment for him to develop his first friends ever. In the process, he also helped another student become a classroom leader who guided him along when he first entered the classroom, as well as an English language learner open up and speak his first English words!
With all the academic support Mrs. Campbell offers to her students, you would think there would be no time left for fun activities, but she still somehow has the energy to create memorable experiences for her students. She used her cake decorating expertise as a professional baker to create individual ornate gingerbread houses with homemade meringue frosting. Elf on the shelf and leprechauns came to visit the classroom. There were winter snowball fights in the MUR, and random movie and popcorn parties, just to name a few. She also is the one kindergarten teacher who has the creativity and dedication to lead classroom plays. Having worked with young children myself, that is no easy feat! Mrs. Campbell takes on the role as screen writer, director, costumer, and set designer all on her own! I was amazed when I saw the multiple Christmas trees she unearthed to decorate to make the production look perfect for the children and their families. Two would have done the job just fine, but she insisted that seven were needed to make it perfect. She also practiced for multiple days with her students so that they had the confidence to put on the best performance. The children not only enjoyed sharing their acting and singing with their families, but also learned about the time and dedication it takes to put on a stellar production. And of course, because the kindergartners had so much fun with the winter production, Mrs. Campbell is currently rehearsing for their upcoming spring production. The fun, and the work, never ends in this busy teacher's schedule.
Teachers are responsible for their own students and classrooms, but Mrs. Campbell takes her service into the greater community as well. For Halloween, every kindergarten teacher could have hosted their own classroom activities, but she offered to lead a grade level event for all of the kindergartners. A few of us parents came to help with set up and were thoroughly amazed by the thought she put into not only the children's activities, but the ornate decorations placed in the kindergarten yard. I remember setting up inflatable after inflatable of pumpkins, Snoopy, and Charlie Brown galore. There was also a hand painted photo-op station where kids could peek their heads through the holes and become various Charlie Brown characters. Scarecrows and mini pumpkins were scattered on the lawn. She had successfully brought the pumpkin patch to school! Moreover, the decorations were not only for viewing, but she took the time to lead groups of children around to take pictures to share with their families. The smiles and excitement on the children's faces were proof in itself that they were the luckiest kindergartners on the planet.
I was impressed by the time and dedication Mrs. Campbell devoted to the kindergarten pumpkin patch already, so I was even more surprised when I saw her help the PTA parents take on Fall Fest as a last-minute school-wide event. Every teacher only needed to host one activity, but of course she hosted two. She spent hours transforming the stage in the MUR into a fun and festive haunted house. This experience required hours of setting up walls with PVC pipes and garbage bags. If you had the chance to walk inside, you would not only be greeted by the usual Halloween decorations, but animatronics, eerie music, and a full-scale science lab with realistic bubbling potions and flashing lights. Once again, Mrs. Campbell worked her magic after school and over multiple weekends to bring frightful delight to the Sinnott community.
Now that we are well into the latter part of the school year, I am finding that whenever there is a large event on campus, Mrs. Campbell is bound to be a part of it, somewhere, somehow. Most recently, she was helping out with the talent show. Teachers are only required to work their contracted hours per school day but it is obvious she goes above and beyond the call of duty. It takes a generous, loving teacher like her to host tutoring sessions for students who need extra support after school. She graciously offers to watch a student and her older siblings after school to help their working parents juggle three different pick up times.
To complete all these great accomplishments in the classroom and the greater school community, Mrs. Campbell has to devote full days at school, and many weekends as well. Her two school age children accompany her, so she also has to carve out time for homework support and extracurricular activities. Spending long days with passionate kindergartners can be draining, but Mrs. Campbell does it with the utmost patience and grace, and a musical tune to boot. Day after day, never complaining, always taking on every new endeavor with passion and a cheerful smile. As she often says, I can be intense for a teacher. This is the intensity that drives her to be the perfect nominee for Outstanding Teacher Award."
"My son just started with Kindergarten this year, and although he did attend years of preschool, he is definitely a handful! Mrs. Campbell has been the greatest teacher though. She always communicates with me to let me know how he is doing and how he can improve, or how we can try to adjust our approach with him in order to be more successful. We are very lucky we have her as his teacher. She is exceptionally attentive and tries her best with him. I also volunteer in her class and I can see how much effort she puts in. She did so much amazing work and put in so much time for the Fall Festival this year, for all the kids at the school. She also works hard to fit in class plays for the kids to do for the parents. She attends PTA meetings and is very involved in so many different aspects. There are very few people who are willing to put in so much of their own time, and offers to help on anywhere she can. I'm also involved in the Book fair, and she came to help us set up the book fair even though it was on her birthday! She lines up great things for the kids to learn from and stay interested, and I know that she is even working on organizing a year end Marketplace event as well. She is a great person and teacher, and always thinks of others. She deserves strong consideration for the OTA."

Golden Oak Service Award (GOSA) - Jennifer Monigold, RSP Teacher
"Mrs.Monigold was a teacher at Sinnott for over 30 years. She was an instructional aid for the RSP program and also helped students in the general classrooms as well. She was fighting cancer and still coming to school to work with her students. She also ran an after school tutoring program that benefited so many children who needed the extra lessons.
She was working with my oldest son for the past few years. She gave him so much encouragement and support throughout the years. During COVID, they would video each other and she would just listen to him talk about things that he was interested in and she made him feel heard. He always looked forward to those sessions. She would also drop by our house every week and leave some worksheets and goody bags for him and his siblings. We would talk to her through the window and it was the highlight of our week.
When the kids returned to school after COVID, she started tutoring my daughter after school since we were not so successful during zoom lessons. She met with my daughter three times a week and when I'd pick her up after school, my daughter always had the biggest smile on her face. She talked to highly on how Mrs.Monigold made learning fun and easy. Mrs.Monigold would even make summer packets to help keep the kids engaged. It was so very helpful and appreciated.
Mrs.Monigold always gave praises to me about my kids and she always made my heart so full. She genuinely cared about them as if they were her own. She would text and check in on them during our difficult times and we were so grateful.
Even though she passed away just a few months ago, I feel that she still deserves this award. I would like her family to receive this award and know just how much she did and meant to her students/families."

Outstanding Administrator Award (OAA) - Laurie Armino, Principal
Even though we have the largest elementary school in the district, our principal, Laurie Armino knows each and every student. She is connected to families, the PTA, and organizations that make our school a special place. She is the centerpiece to a wonderful school. We are lucky to have her leadership.
As the principle of 800 kids school Ms. Armino needs to be very busy to maintain a great school. And she did well. On top of that she never misses one PTA Board meeting or Association meeting at night during her family time. She also join all of our night or day events in person too. She's always there to answer 20+ chairs and many volunteers questions or requests. (We all know how many programs PTA has. Her duties and responsibilities is during office hours of weekdays but she still deeply committees and supports Sinnott PTA during her personal and family time. We are lucky to have her.

Continuing Service Award (CSA) - Linda Sebree
Mrs. Sebree is one of the kindest educators that I've ever met. She started working with my son in kindergarten and always went above and beyond when teaching. She would make flash cards for him to take home and she would find reptile books to read with him because that was literally his only interest. She really brought him out of his shell and would play games with him and just listen to him talk about what he was interested in. We have a pet bearded dragon and she helped him make a book about him. He was so excited when he got to work with Mrs.Sebree and loved telling me about how much fun he had working with her. Mrs. Sebree also works with my daughter and does group sessions throughout the week. That extra support that my daughter receives is truly amazing. During the summer, she came to visit my son on his birthday and brought him a personalized gift. It was so thoughtful and so appreciated. We would even Facetime so my son could say hi. Mrs. Sebree helps many of the teachers and supports so many students. She even helped with the Fall Festival and created beautiful raffle boxes and helped put games together for the Haunted House. She puts so much extra time and effort into supporting our teachers. Mrs.Campbell also gave so many praises on the help she received from Mrs.Sebree, I believe that she plans to retire at the end of this year and she will be truly missed as she's been such a big part of Sinnott's support system.
Linda is the heart and soul of Sinnott. She invests time into staff members, students, and goes above and beyond in everything she does for the school. We are so blessed to have her at Sinnott.

-Outstanding Teacher Award (OTA) - Anu Tiwari
Teaching has never been an easy job but teaching Special needs children are a very different path. 3 yrs ago Ms. Anu started teaching special education children from grade 1-3. This was a different path for her from her comfortable teaching of Neurotypical kids. But in her journey she made sure not only the children are comfortable and enjoying learning but she involved us parents too in any and every way possible. She encourage her pupils and strengthen their strengths and work hard on their weaknesses educationally, socially and emotionally. Its nice to see such a wonderful teacher after sometime who doesn't think it as a JOB but love it and gives back 1000%. Thank you Ms. Anu for the love and compassion you have for our children.
Outstanding Teacher Award (OTA) - Mary Gray
We are lucky to have Coach Mary as the PE treachery at John Sinnott. I have seen the enthusiasm she puts in to her work, and the positive influence she has had on both my kids. From teaching them fun games, to organizing running races and practice running around the field, she is dedicated to her work and committed to improving kids physical health . All the kids love their PE classes, whether indoor or outdoors and adore their teacher, which I think goes a long way in speaking to her ability and commitment.
I have viewed Coach Mary playing with the kids, encouraging them to try new things and helping them along the way.
Teaching basics of body and explaining how exercise benefits us.

Outstanding Teacher Award (OTA) - Narges Shuja
Ms. Shuja's commitment to opening the classroom door early, especially on rainy days, is just one example of how she prioritizes the well-being of her students. Her use of a point system to reward good behavior and work not only incentivizes her students, but also helps them develop a sense of accountability and responsibility. Due to the effects of COVID and the lock down, my daughter ceased going to school in person when she was only halfway through kindergarten. Since then, she has been studying at home and has done so for the past two years, up until this school year. She had received her vaccinations, so we felt confident allowing her to return to school, but I was terrified she wouldn't feel safe going back. The fact that every Friday at the end of the day, some students who had the most points from being a good student and doing good work would be entered into the lucky draw for some small treats, was one incentive that really motivated my daughter to get up early and be excited to go to school until it became a habit. After the school adopted the PBS reward, which enables students to exchange their points for gifts online at the PBS store, the teacher also stopped offering the lucky draw prize. By that time, my daughter was accustomed to attending school. In addition to these strategies, the teacher also places a strong emphasis on writing. The teacher would rather have her students write well-organized, correctly-corrected writings than a lot of disorganized journal entries. My daughter claimed that the teacher helped the class focus on the main idea after seeking out the views of each student. She gave them time to edit, then took several versions. By taking the time to work with each student individually, she helps them develop their critical thinking and writing skills. Her approach to teaching writing also demonstrates her dedication to quality over quantity. The teacher's involvement in extracurricular activities, such as helping her students set up booths and developing public speaking skills, further illustrates her commitment to providing a holistic education. By integrating academic pursuits with real-world experiences, she helps her students develop practical skills that will serve them well in the future. Overall, the students' commendable success is attributable to the teacher's careful preparation and dedication to building a supportive learning environment. She is a tremendous asset to the school community because of her knowledge of children's needs and experience managing the academic and social difficulties post-Covid-19 presents to students.
My daughter Kashvi has been at Sinnott for the past 6 years, starting in Grade 1 and currently in Grade 6. Ms Shuja was my daughter's 2nd grade teacher. As my daughter graduates to Rancho this fall, we feel Ms Shuja is the best teacher at Sinnott. Ms Shuja exemplifies dedication, hard work, and the will to help students get better. She considerably helped my daughter with her language arts and math skill. Ms Shuja went well beyond her job to teach and helped motivate and inculcate an interest in language arts and math. This has helped Kashvi pursue topics beyond her grade level. I feel teaching is hard but helping students be interested is extremely hard. It is the interest in topics that help the kids explore and pursue beyond what is being taught. Ms Shuja took a lot of effort to impart a scientific methodology and mindset to kids. Ms Shuja worked hard to look into every kids pace of understanding. For kids who were behind, she helped them level up and for kids who were grasping things faster, she helped them accelerate their learning. Despite all her hard work, she is always enthusiastic and full of energy. Ms Shuja deserves the Outstanding Teacher Award for her hard work and helping Sinnott students rise and shine.

Honorary Service Award (HSA) - Sherry Miller-Lo
We just see the teacher who have the respect and admiration of their student by sending the email every week to inform what they will learn in the week. It's very clear and helpful for parents.
Ms. Lo goes above and beyond for her students and community. Her act of sheltering students who do not have umbrellas is a beautiful example of her kindness and empathy towards others. By using her own large umbrella, she not only sheltered the children from the rain but also made them feel valued and cared for. Her tolerance towards boisterous students is also admirable. She understands that students are energetic and may struggle to cooperate at times. However, rather than becoming frustrated or angry, she has a plan to help them behave appropriately. By giving clear instructions and guidelines, the students know exactly what is expected of them, which helps them stay focused and on task. Additionally, her sense of responsibility towards the safety of the students is evident in her yard duty responsibilities. By controlling the traffic twice a week, she ensures that parents and children can cross the crossroad safely and efficiently. Despite the discomfort of inhaling smoke from passing cars, she perseveres, showing her dedication to her role and her students. Her promotion of dog adoption and assistance in making cozy blankets for the dog shelter highlights her commitment to her community. By promoting animal welfare, she teaches her students the value of compassion and kindness towards animals. This teacher is a shining example of a caring and responsible individual who goes above and beyond for her students and community. Her acts of kindness, tolerance, and responsibility demonstrate her commitment to making a positive impact on the world around her.

Honorary Service Award (HSA) - Padma Subbaraya
Padma is an experienced Sinnott parents and committed Bee competition chair. She has been chaired bee competition for at least 5 years if not more. Currently she is the chair of 3 competition includes IAC Geo Bee, Historian Bee and Science Bee. These programs bring extra knowledge and experience that benefits kids for their whole life. And our Bee teams are strong under Padma's leadership that went to National level most of the years if not every year. She even convinced IAC to host regional test site in Sinnott school this year so many of our kids can participate right in front of their houses. That tells a lot of her efforts behind the scene. Thank you Padma!
Honorary Service Award (HSA) - Deepa Lahiri
Deepa is very active in many PTA programs and events for many many years. One of the popular events is that she chairs the Scholastic Book Fair which brings joy and knowledge to our kids as well as huge income for Sinnott PTA from book sale. So our PTA can pay for every classrooms' scholastic magazine order costs $8K-$10K every year. Each fair is a huge commitment for at least 3 weeks of work includes 5 full days in school during working hours with 20+ volunteers. But she accomplish not only 1 fair but 2 fairs these year and our sale breaks the records for 10 years. It's important to have successful fundraisers so PTA can support kid's programs and release pressure from parents' donation especially after COVID. Big shout out to her Book Fair events!
Honorary Service Award (HSA) - Sonal Verma and Vishnu
Sonal and Vishnu is example couple for many of us parents. They chair PTA Reflections program for 6 year which is the whole time for their kids. They continue their serve for 6 years for PTA which is impressive. As an Art national competition, their program inspires many kids and impacts them in many ways. There are countless state and national winner comes from Sinnott out of their continued efforts. Sinnott would not have been such an artistic place without their efforts. This is the last year for their kids in Sinnott. We sincerely thanks for them and their 6 years program.
Honorary Service Award (HSA) - Hailhong (Angelina) Liu
Angelina is a mom of 2 kids and one of the most hardworking volunteers to serve the Sinnott PTA for many programs. First she is the communication chair who needs to serve 20+ programs to send out Parent Square posts. Every post we saw on PS, she is the one to review, edit and finalize. Second, she is the Webmaster of PTA who keep 20+ programs up-to-date. It's a lot of commitment, time and effort on our website. And it's a powerful tool to keep every parent informed. Third, she is one of the founders for the music program who finished the 1st parents training. And 1 out 4 docents who continue to the second year that teach weekly music classes in our school. Last but not least, she is also the founder of the Sinnott Robotics program which invites MHS state champion team to teach robotics classes for our kids. Sinnott PTA could not find a better volunteer like her and she definitely one of the best examples for many of us. Angelina serves 4 roles this year asCommunication Chair (daily)¸Webmaster (Daily)¸Robotics Lego Club Chair (Weekly)¸Music teacher(Weekly). I don't think anymore reasons are needed. Just look at her commitments then we know how much effort she put in PTA programs. Wholeheartedly thank you!
Honorary Service Award (HSA) - Madhavi Cherukuri
I would be surprised if no one nominated Madhavi Cherkuri. Come on she gave us the biggest FALL FESTIVAL over the past decade! It must the best memory for all Sinnott families in Fall. I don't know how she directed the whole event with Ms. Campbell but they did it soooooo well. Magic partners! Sinnott is so lucky to have teachers and parents volunteers like them. Each of us bring in something (BIG) that benefit our kids the most. Hats off to Madhavi and team Fall Fest!
Honorary Service Award (HSA) - Katherine Ventura
There are couple PTA programs make huge impact to many Sinnott kids. The Music program is one of them. As a working mom with 3 kids, Katie is the program chair who coordinated training for parent volunteers and brought weekly music in Sinnott to serve 18 classrooms (all rooms from K-G3 including SDC) with about 400 kids and still expending to upper grades if volunteers and funds available. I don't know how much weight in your heart for music but it's very important especially after COVID. I am so proud of the whole music team and huge shout out for chair Katie.
Honorary Service Award (HSA) - Divya Vavili
Divya should be the busiest PTA volunteer of all. She is a working mom and the current Treasurer of PTA and Chairs for 2 amazing programs. As Treasurer she has monthly Board meeting duties and weekly (if not daily) communication for questions and reimbursements. There are hundreds to thousands of reimbursement documents every year to process through Treasurer plus overseeing financial status. So that we can better serve hundreds of teachers/staff/volunteers. As Xpression Debate club, her program brings in weekly speech classes for our young kids and provide stage for them to speak at annual showcase. As OOTM Chair, her program helps kids to join competition and they have received regional and national awards. I can not imagin how many hours she volunteers to Sinnott PTA. But she definitely makes Sinnott a better place for all!
Very Special Person Award (VSP) - Tingna Xu
Tina has brought so much life to the Sinnott PTA since she first became involved two years ago. We have more programs, more volunteers, and more energy than ever before. Some examples are bringing a music program to Sinnott, built solely on volunteers and from the ground up, bringing Robotics Club to Sinnott by partnering with the MHS Robotics Club to act as mentors to our students, representing Sinnott PTA at Charity Bingo, staffing the ROARS store for our children, and coming up with little extras like Boo Grams and Teacher Appreciation days. She keeps everyone connected creatively with multiple group chats, emails, and school booths, and is 100% committed to shared success, not to mention is one of the most friendly and positive personalities I've met. I am so lucky to have worked with her these past two years and am so grateful she is part of the Wildcat family. Thank you Tina!
I'd like to nominate Tina Xu for the Honorary Service Award (HSA). In her role as a PTA president, Tina did a wonderful job with her deep care, love and unwavering commitment to the school and all the PTA activities from Book Fair, Fall Festival, PBIS store, Music program and so on. Her tireless efforts have greatly contributed to the success of our PTA and the school as a whole.

As PTA President from 2021-2023, Tingna has given selflessly to the school community. It is hard to count the number of times she has gone above and beyond to promote PTA programs, stepped in wherever program chairs needed help, and ever so and prompt at answering questions or following up. It is largely due to Tingna that we have so many exciting and accessible programs like the Robotics club, Speaking club, Music for Minors, Science is Elementary etc set up and running for kids at Sinnott. She demonstrates qualities of a true leader, generous in her appreciation and praise for event chairs, and taking the high road in case of any conflict . I can think of no one more deserving of this award than Tingna, as she is truly committed to the bettering of our school, children and community.
