Sinnott kids shine at the 2023 IAC National Bees Competitions
Sinnott PTA GeoBee program had great success this year! 6th grader Tejus Karadi won 2nd place at the IAC 2023 GeoBee Nationals. In addition, this year, our PTA introduced Science Bee. 6th grader Stavya Dangaria secured a 2nd place at the Science Bee Nationals. For icing on the cake, Stavya Dangaria and Tejus Karadi also held Sinnott flag high by securing a stunning 1st and 3rd place at the 2023 IAC Academic bee. Having two Sinnott kids on the awards podium was a joyful sight. Academic Bee is a medley of all subjects including but not limited to Science, History, Geography, literature, current events and everything else. Tara Karadi, a 3rd grader at Sinnott, competed in Geography bee and Science Bee and went all the way quarterfinals in both discipline - our youngest of the Sinnott lot to get into playoffs. Kashvi Agarwal secured 4th place in Science Bee and Tejus Karadi also secured 8th place in History Bee. Tejus Karadi also won 3rd place in Latin American History National Championship Exam. Tejus Karadi also won 3rd place in American Geography National Championship Exam. Tara Karadi won a broze medal in the Ornithology National Championship Exam. National Championship Exams are written exams. Additionally, Shreya Ram and Parth Baheti made it to quarterfinals in Science Bee. Joash Thomas made it to quarterfinals in History Bee. Sinnott History Bowl team comprising of Joash Thomas, Stavya Dangaria and Tejus Karadi reached quarterfinals in the National History Bowl competition. Overall Sinnott kids were on the leaderboard, performed extremely well and made us all proud.
2023 IAC Nationals were held in Arlington, Virginia. The event was held over 4 days between June 1st and June 4th, 2023. Nine qualified Sinnott kids participated at the 2023 Elementary/Middle School (EMS) IAC Nationals. To qualifying for Nationals, kids write an online regional qualifying exam(ORQE). Students who pass the qualifying exam, compete in regional competitions. Highly qualified competitors at Regional finals are invited to compete Nationally. There are many more competitions beyond the three marquee (Geography/History/Science) competitions that are crowned at the National Championships! Approximately, 64,000 kids wrote the online regional qualifying exam and over 1,800 qualified kids participated in the Nationals. With over 1800 students in attendance, according to IAC, this was the world’s largest ever buzzer-based quiz bowl tournament for students.

2022-2023 Regional Bees Update
In Dec, some Sinnott Quiz Bowl team kids participated in multiple IAC bee competitions - History Bee, Science Bee, Geography Bee, and have been achieving excellent results. Tejus K. (6th grade) won first place in Regional GeoBee, and Parth B. (6th grade) won 3rd place in Science Bee. In addition to that, kids qualified for nationals and international bees in multiple discipline.
The Bee community at Sinnott is growing! Its great to see several success stories. Sinnott Quiz Bowl team is ramping up for bowl competitions.
