About Us
We the PTA at John Sinnott unite to keep our student and teacher programs strong for our school community!
Year after year parent volunteers come together to keep our organization active as we work to provide major resources for our school which are not provided for by district funds. This involves further developing programs that help our students achieve their potential and sustaining substantial support for our dedicated teachers and school staff.
A first opportunity to show support is to become a member and donate.
Secondly, and most importantly, we invite and welcome creative participation from the parent community this school year! Let us know if you can share your skills, gifts, and talents virtually with our students and families. The time we give really does make a difference in the lives of all our children!
2024 -2025 PTA Executive Board
Nihar M.
Nihar & family call Milpitas home since 2021. Nihar loves to learn and make positive impact on as many lives as he can. He finds the compounding effect of touching people’s lives in smallest possible ways through giving very satisfying. He believes active participation in school activities through PTA initiatives is a great opportunity to positively influence not only his own daughter but also her friends, peers, and community we live in.
Elaine N.
Elaine is a stay at home mom to two kids, one whom is currently attending Kindergarten at Sinnott. Originating from Vancouver, Canada, she has lived in the Bay Area for 7 years. She regularly volunteers at John Sinnott Elementary, and is also married to a long time Milpitas resident and John Sinnott alumni (who went on to attend Rancho Middle School, and Milpitas High School). A pet lover, she fosters kittens as well as owns many pets of her own. She believes the PTA has the power to greatly enrich a child's educational experience, and looks forward to serving as the Treasurer and Book Fair chair.
Pragya L.
Pragya has been a resident of Milpitas for the last three years. She is a parent to a second grader and a future kindergartner. Pragya coached one of the Odyssey of the Mind teams from John Sinnott last year and decided to join the PTA leadership team to share more of her time and support with this community.
Vanessa S.
Events Vice-President
I've been a Milpitas resident for all my life and I'm continuously looking for ways to give back to my community. I am raising my three children and am so excited that they get to attend the same elementary school that I attended, as well as have a few of the same teachers that I used to have. I am also a member of the board for Milpitas PAL Soccer and Milpitas North Valley PAL Softball.
Nithya P.
Webmaster
Nithya is a software engineer and has lived in Milpitas since 2013. She has a fourth grader at Sinnott. She is excited to help organize STEM activities for the PTA.

Katie V.
Musical Wildcats Program Chair
Katie has lived in Milpitas since 2012 and is the mother to three Sinnott Wildcats. She took piano lessons as a child and enjoys sharing the joy of music with students through the Musical Wildcats program. Her favorite part of being a Sinnott parent and PTA member is fostering the feeling of community and connecting with other families.
Soni K.
Science is Elementary Program Co-Chair
Neha and Soni K. are proud parents of a Sinnott third grader. We moved to Milpitas in 2021 after living in Sunnyvale for 5 years. Professionally trained as engineer and technologist, both of us have always been passionate about the positive impact of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, and maths, with a big piece of arts) to our lives, especially for kids, to learn, practice and give back to the community. As a day-job Soni works in a high-tech company, as a product and marketing manager. Neha is a biotechnologist but now spends most of her time volunteering for non-profits in Bay-Area and taking care of the family! For the past 9 years, Soni has been collaborating with Science is Elementary (SiE) as a regular volunteer in various Title 1 schools in Bay Area, and Neha joined him in this rewarding cause in early 2021, and fell in love on the very first day. And now we are looking forward to learning a lot, sharing our passion, and contributing to the Sinnott community.
Nidhi G.
Science is Elementary Program Co-Chair
Nidhi moved to Milpitas three years ago from India and is mom to a very curious third grade Wildcat at Sinnott. She believes that it's critical to nurture a scientific temperament in children and fuel their passion for asking questions and always staying curious. She is a storyteller and is the host and co-founder for a children's stories podcast.
Shweta B.
Shweta and her family moved to Milpitas in 2022 after living in Evergreen, San Jose for six years. She is parent of twin girls who joined Sinnott this year as Kindergartners. She is a finance professional and would like to contribute to the community in whatever small way possible. She believes active PTA participation will help her to be more involved with her daughters and their friends/peers' development.
Padma S.
I'm a proud parent of two wonderful Sinnott kids - one in 6th grade and 2nd in 3rd grade. We have been a resident of Milpitas since 2001. I'm a software engineer by training and own my own business. My husband and have been involved in GeoBee at Sinnott for several years now. Thanks to Sinnott PTA, my kids participated and won medals in various IAC Bee competitions. Looking forward to a fantastic and busy year ahead!
Divya V.
Divya has been a resident of Milpitas for the past 5 years. She is a parent to a second grader, and a software engineer by profession. She’s glad to be part of this community and would like to help contribute in whatever small way possible. She loves to see how creative solutions transform the world and has seen how the Odyssey-of-the-mind program really challenges and brings out the creative side of kids. She considers it an honor to be a part of this program and help the kids and volunteers cherish this experience going forward.
